Well, it’s taken a lot longer than the average player, but I’ve finally reached 80 in WoW.

I’ve gotten my character up to 80 and have slowly dipped my toe into entry level raiding. It’s a pretty interesting experience. You reach the artificial level limit of the game and yet, it feels like you’re a rookie all over again. Hopefully, this will change with more experience (not points).

It’s been quite a few months, since, I last made a post on here. In all honesty, I almost forget about this.

But, it’s a new year. Hopefully, I can make generate a new head of steam for this and keep posting regularly.

If someone on the ‘intertubes’ choose to read this, I hope you find something interesting here.

World(?) of Warcraft…

For the few people on the internet that have never heard of World of Warcraft, it is a massively multiplayer online role playing game made by Blizzard Entertainment. It has a very rich lore going all the way back to the early days of gaming on Windows.

I have to start off with a confession. I haven’t played a mmo since Scars of Velious was released for Everquest. Everquest was a fantastic game. It was, actually, the first game i ever played that had 3d models! It was a beautiful world filled with monsters and scenic vistas. Now, Everquest has faded into the glory of our memories, and WoW has taken the throne once occupied by Everquest.

WoW is a HUGE game. You have three continents in Azeroth alone, and then you also have the Outlands. And this huge world is occupied by 11 million+ players. Yet, there’s something odd here.

WoW feels empty.

You can travel all across the world of Azeroth (don’t forget to get the achievement for it if you try) and yet you might not even talk to another player the whole time. You might not even see another player in your zone for hours at a time. Why do we see this?

By its’ very nature, WoW is supposed to be an interactive game. Where players are encouraged to group together to accomplish similar goals. Whether those goals are for better gear, more gold, or just the experience of seeing new sights. Yet, there’s nothing that says you MUST play with another human being in this virtual world of 11 million.

Is this what we want from a MMO? A massive world to be explored and conquered by me, myself, and I?

This is the stirfrypanda. I decided to start this blog about 5 days ago. This blog was born out of a time of stress, frustration, and breakthroughs. It was a time of trial that i needed to face.
